The following link goes to the
FAA's Service
Difficulty Reporting (SDR) program site. This site allows
the public to query the FAA's database for SDR's and Malfunction and
Defect Reports (MDR). Be aware that the contents of the FAA's
SDR data are not verified and may not be accurate.
Standards, Rules, and Laws
The following documents are a collection of
rules, laws, and standards which are relevant to the AS&D
professional.
Title 49 provides the authority for the FAA.
This is an
important document for aviation professionals to be familiar with.
MIL-HNBK-516B is the DoD's guide for certification of aerospace
products. This document is important for any organization
engaging in a new certification program.
The "Space Act" is the public law
which provides the NASA Administrator with his authority. For
professionals who are active in aeronautical research and business
with NASA, this is a relevant document to be familiar with.
49 U.S.C., Subsection
II, Chapter 11 provides the NTSB with its authority to
investigate and determine probable cause of aviation accidents.
Aviation professionals who are responsible for quality records,
service documents, and in-house investigations should be familiar
with this section of Title 49 as well as the implementing rules.
